The Icelandic national basketball team represents Iceland in men's international basketball games, such as international tournaments and friendly matches.

The team has not yet qualified for World Championships or Olympic Games. They qualified for the European Championship for the first time in 2015.

history

The Icelandic national team joined FIBA in 1961 .

The first major tournament in which the Icelanders will participate will be the 2015 European Championship , for which they qualified as runner-up in the qualifying group. Here the team met Germany , Spain , Turkey , Italy and Serbia . With five defeats they were eliminated from the group bottom after the preliminary round.
