Baskil is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Elazığ . The city is located about 47 kilometers by road southwest of the provincial capital Elazığ.

The district Baskil located in the southwest of the province and is bordered to the north by the county Keban , on the east by the central district ( Merkez ) Elazig and in the southeast the circle Sivrice . In the west and south-west it borders the province of Malatya , separated by a reservoir of the Karakaya dam .

In addition to the district town, the district consists of 60 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 263 residents. Bilaluşağı is the largest village with 728 inhabitants.
