Alacakaya ( Zaza Ğuleman , Ğulaman ) is a city and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Elazığ . The city is located about 81 kilometers by road from Elazığ in an easterly direction. It houses around two fifths of the district's population (2018: 42.83%).

The district was split off in 1990 from the eastern part of the district of Maden. Until then he was part of the Bucak Merkez in this circle. It borders on Palu County in the north, Arıcak County in the east, and Maden County in the west. In the south, the Diyarbakır Province (Dicle County) forms the border. The district's population density does not even reach a third of the provincial average of 63.5 inhabitants per km².

In addition to the district town, the district also consists of ten villages ( Köy ) with an average of 375 residents. Çakmakkaya is the largest village with 810 inhabitants.
