Bastienne Schmidt

Bastienne Schmidt (born April 3, 1961 in Munich ) is a German photographer .

Life

Bastienne Schmidt, born in Munich in 1961, lived in Athens from 1969 to 1979 , attended school there and studied ethnology in Munich from 1980 . After working in a psychiatric clinic, she began studying painting and photography at the Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vannucci in Perugia, Italy . In 1987 Schmidt moved to New York . Here she worked at the International Center of Photography as an assistant to Ralph Gibson .

Bastienne Schmidt has been working as a freelance photojournalist for German and American newspapers and magazines since 1989 .
