Batara is an East Timorese suco in the Laclubar administrative district ( Manatuto municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Batara had an area of ​​64.97 km². Now there are 66.79 km². The Suco is to the north of the Laclubar administrative office. To the southwest is the Suco Funar , south of the Suco Orlalan , southeast of the Suco Fatumaquerec and northeast of the Suco Sananain . In the north Batara borders on the administrative office Laclo with the Suco Uma Naruc and in the east on the administrative office Manatuto with its Suco Cribas . The border with Fatumaquerec and Cribas is formed by the Sumasse River , an important tributary of the Northern Laclós . The Lacos , which rises in Batara, and the Carcos , the eastern border river to Sananain , flow into the Sumasse . In the north, the border with Sananain is formed by the Boho, which rises in the center of Batara . The border to Funar and Uma Naruc largely follows the Lago Coi . Lago Coi and Boho are also part of the Northern Laclós system. In the west of Batara lies the Maupe mountain , which the local Idaté consider sacred.

The larger Sucos settlements are concentrated in the southwest of Batara, where they form the suburbs and the northern part of the administrative capital, Laclubar . These are Are Ain ( Aireain ), Balulin , Fatuha , Lihutula and Werulun ( Wer Ulun ).

In the Suco there are the four Aldeias Are Ain , Balulin , Fatuha and Werulun .

Residents

2367 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 1137 are men and 1230 women. The population density is 35.4 inhabitants / km². There are 345 households in the Suco. Almost 96% of the population name Idaté as their mother tongue. 2.5% speak Tetum Prasa , minorities Tetum Terik or Adabe .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Agostinho Soares was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Tomas Pinto .
