The Batten Kill (also Battenkill or Battenkill River ) is a left tributary of the Hudson River in the US states of Vermont and New York .
The Batten Kill originates 9 km north of Manchester in Bennington County of Vermont. It flows southwest to Arlington . There it changes course to the west and flows into Washington County to New York. 5 km north of Cambridge it briefly turns north. It then flows again in a predominantly westerly direction. It flows through the town of Greenwich and finally flows into the Hudson River after another 10 km opposite Schuylerville . The Batten Kill has a length of 96 km. It drains an area of 1054 km².
Covered bridges
There are four covered bridges at Batten Kill , three of which are still in use today.
- Arlington Green Covered Bridge (1852), in Vermont
- Eagleville Covered Bridge (1858)
- Shushan Covered Bridge (1858–1962), now a museum
- Rexleigh Bridge (1874)
