building

The Farrenstall, a half-timbered house from the first half of the 18th century, belonged to the Princes of Leiningen and was used as a wine press . The municipality of Richen, which bought the building in 1837, converted it into a barn with an apartment for the keeper. In 2000 the museum was opened as part of the Old University City and Half-Timbered Museum .

The everyday rural culture is first shown using a detailed apartment with kitchen, living room and bedroom. This is followed by the farmer's utility rooms , in which the former agricultural equipment is located. A cider cellar can also be visited.

The typical handicrafts of a farming village such as cobbler and painting workshops are shown. The former village locksmith and village smithy , a vital craft for the village life, was completely to the museum translocated .

Craft markets, seminars and special exhibitions are organized to provide a deeper insight into rural life.

Since 2007, an educational fruit path has been added to the offer.
