Former town hall in Mühlbach

The Steinhauermuseum Mühlbach in the former town hall in Mühlbach , a district of Eppingen in the district of Heilbronn ( Baden-Württemberg ), is a small museum on the history of the stone-carving trade that was set up in 1998 .

building

The former town hall and school house made of Mühlbacher reed sandstone was built in 1903 and is an example of the heyday of the stone carving trade. A door arch was uncovered for the museum and the original state was largely restored.

exhibition

The permanent exhibition conveys the various phases of stone extraction in the quarry up to the final processing of the smooth or ornamented stone during construction.

The stone carving gallery offers space for special exhibitions on the stone carving trade or for works by young sculptors . The village square in front of the building is used as an additional exhibition space. In addition to seminars, guided tours are offered in the local quarries, because the stone carving trade has not yet died out in the village.
