Baumann + Baumann is an international German graphic and communication design office based in Schwäbisch Gmünd .

history

In 1978 the Baumann + Baumann Design Office was founded by Barbara Baumann (* 1951) and Gerd Baumann (* 1950) after studying at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design . The company became internationally known for its corporate design and orientation system for the German Bundestag in Bonn , the Great Court of the British Museum in London , with exhibition and trade fair design for Daimler AG and IBM . Corporate design concepts were developed for customers such as Siemens AG , WMF AG , Bulthaup , Diakonie Stetten and the International Music School Academy Kulturzentrum Schloss Kapfenburg .

Barbara and Gerd Baumann are honorary members of the Type Directors Club Tokyo, members of the Type Directors Club New York , have been jury members for the Kieler Woche poster competition for several years. You hold workshops as visiting professors at the Musashino Art University in Tokyo.

The office works together with designers and architects such as Otl Aicher , Kurt Weidemann , Foster + Partners , Behnisch & Partner , Richard Meier , Auer + Weber + Assoziierte , Hascher Jehle Architektur , 4a Architekten .

Awards

The Baumann + Baumann office received national and international awards such as the design award of the Federal Republic of Germany for the corporate identity “International Music School Academy Culture Center Schloss Kapfenburg”, the “best of the best” red dot design award for the “twenty-six-letter book”, the silver medal of the Art Directors Club Germany and the “The Most Beautiful German Books” award for the book “lechts rinks - Orientation between Architecture and Parliament German Bundestag Bonn”, the iF Communication Design Award for “Marbach Schillerhöhe”, the Josef Binder Award Austria in gold; one poster design was honored with the Henri-de-Toulouse-Lautrec silver medal and in 1995 the office won the Kiel Week poster competition .
