Baures is a country town in the Beni department in the lowlands of the South American landlocked state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Baures is the central place of the Municipio Baures and is located in the province of Iténez at an altitude of 150 m on the left bank of the Río Negro , which belongs to the river system of the Río Iténez . Baures is located 70 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Magdalena and 200 kilometers northeast of Trinidad , the capital of the department.

The climate in the Baures area is characterized by a balanced temperature curve that is typical of the tropics with only minor fluctuations and an annual average temperature of almost 27 ° C (see Magdalena climate diagram). The annual precipitation is more than 1400 mm, with a clear wet season from November to March, and a dry season in the months June to August.
Transport network
Baures is located at a distance of 375 kilometers by road northeast of Trinidad , the capital of the department.
From Trinidad, the national road Ruta 9 runs for 211 kilometers in a northerly direction via San Javier to San Ramón . Here a dirt road branches off to the east, which reaches the city of Magdalena after 82 kilometers and after another 82 kilometers in a south-easterly direction via Huacaraje after crossing the Río Blanco, the town of Baures .
On the western outskirts of the town of Baures there is a 1400 meter long runway ( IATA airport code BVL), which runs in a north-south direction.
