The Bavarian A IV were locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways .

The vehicles were developed for night driving and use on the north-south route. In order to increase the area of the evaporator, the boiler was enlarged to a length of 3,080 mm and a diameter of 1,219 mm. In addition, the weight and the boiler overpressure were increased. In addition, these machines were the first to have an outer frame with outer cylinders. This type of construction spread mainly in southern Germany and Austria . All but one of the machines had been retired by 1883. This locomotive was converted into a C locomotive in 1874 and later a 1B locomotive.

They were with a Tender equipped to type 3 T 5th
