After all local railway locomotives of type D II were retired in 1894, the designation was reassigned. The steam locomotives for the shunting operation of the class D II II of the Royal Bavarian State Railways were tank locomotives . From 1906 further locomotives of this type were put into operation. They were given the new designation R 3/3 . Of the 73 units of the D II II , 70 came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn as class 89 6 , the remaining three units came to the Polish state railway PKP as TKh101 in 1919 . Most of the locomotives were also in service after the Second World War . The last D II II was not taken out of service until 1960.
