The ten steam locomotives of the type DV of the Bavarian State Railroad were the first triple- coupled tank locomotives in Bavaria.

description

The machines were specially designed for use on the steep section between Plattling and Eisenstein . Since the locomotives did not perform as expected, they were soon only used for shunting. Nevertheless, all ten machines came to the Reichsbahn where they were classified as class 89 81 in the numbering plan . But they were but soon as the series 89 6 eingruppierten Bavarian R 3/3 replaced. Retirement began in 1925. The last ones to be retired were 89 8106 and 89 8107 in 1928.
