Beata Mikołajczyk (born October 15, 1985 in Bydgoszcz , Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship ) is a Polish canoe racer and participant in the 2012 Olympic Games in London . She starts for the UKS Kopernik Bydgoszcz club . Her specialty is the 500 m sprint in K-1 , K-2 and K-4 , but she also competes over the long distance of 1000 m. She had her first start in the Polish national team in June 2001 at an international competition in Bochum .

Career

Her greatest successes are a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 in K-2 with Aneta Konieczna and a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London 2012 in K-2 with Karolina Naja , each over 500 m. In both Beijing 2008 and London 2012, she and the team in the K-4 over 500 m with fourth places each missed further Olympic medals. At the 2011 World Championships in Szeged ( Hungary ) she was third in the K-2 over 500 m, at the 2009 World Championships in Dartmouth ( Canada ) she won gold. At the European Championships in 2012, she won the K-2 class over 1000 m. She was able to defend this title at the European Championships in 2013, where she also won gold over 500 meters in the K-2. At the 2013 World Championships in Duisburg , she won silver over 200 meters and bronze over 500 meters in a two-man kayak with Karolina Naja. The following year at the World Championships in Moscow , the two thirds were over 500 meters. Beata Mikołajczyk also won a silver medal in a four-person kayak over 500 meters with Naja, Edyta Dzieneszewska and Marta Walczykiewicz .

Beata Mikołajczyk studied at the University of Economy, Bydgoszcz and graduated in Recreation Management - Tourism, she lives in Lipniki (near Bydgoszcz).

Awards

On October 8, 2008 she was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland in gold for her sporting achievements by decision of the President .
