Beatrice Faumuina ONZM ( Beatrice Roini Liua Faumuina ; born October 23, 1974 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand discus thrower .

The fifth of the Junior World Championships in 1992 won silver at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. She competed at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg and at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , but failed in each qualification.

The following year she achieved her greatest success with winning the title at the World Championships in Athens . She also won the gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. At the 1999 World Championships in Seville she was fifth and at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney twelfth.

She defended her title at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester . This was followed by a 13th place at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , a seventh place at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and a fourth place each at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki and the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne .

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , she was eliminated from the qualification. In 2010 she finished fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi .

Beatrice Faumuina is 1.85 m tall and weighs 125 kg. In 2005 she was awarded the Order of Merit Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit . In the same year she became Goodwill Ambassador of FAO .
