Li Yanfeng

Li Yanfeng ( Chinese  李 豔 鳳  /  李 艳 凤 , Pinyin Lǐ Yànfèng ; born May 15, 1979 in Qinggang , Heilongjiang Province ) is a Chinese discus thrower .

At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville, she was eliminated in qualification. In 2000 she won bronze at the Asian Athletics Championships and in 2001 silver at the Universiade . In 2002 and 2003 she was Asian champion, in 2003 again second at the Universiade and in 2004 ninth at the Olympic Games in Athens .

After a long break from injury, she won silver at the Asian Championships in 2007. In 2008 she finished seventh at the Beijing Olympic Games, and in 2010 she won gold at the Asian Games in Guangzhou .

In 2011 she set her personal best on June 5th in Schönebeck with 67.98 m. As the leader of the world annual best list, she traveled to the 2011 World Championships in Daegu and with 66.52 m became the first Chinese world champion in discus throwing.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she subsequently received the silver medal, as her Russian competitor Darya Pishchalnikova was disqualified for doping .

Li Yanfeng is trained by the German Karl-Heinz Steinmetz , who once looked after Lars Riedel .
