Begusarai ( Hindi बेगुसराय ) is a city in the Indian state of Bihar .
The city lies on the north bank of the Ganges and is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . Begusarai is 100 km east of Patna . Begusarai has the status of a Municipal Corporation ( Nagar Nigam ). The city is divided into 45 wards . In the 2011 census, the population was 252,008.
