Benjamin "Ben" Yu (born January 8, 1986 in Dayton , Ohio ) is a professional American poker player . He is three-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Yu grew up in Los Angeles . He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in civil and environmental engineering with a minor in public policy in 2008 . Before starting his poker career, Yu worked as a professional break dancer . He lives in Los Angeles.

Poker career

Career

Yu played on the online poker rooms PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker under the nickname benyu604 from January 2013 to April 2014 . Since 2008 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

Yu was the beginning of July 2008 for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and died in a tournament variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money. He reached his first final table at the 2010 WSOP and came second in a shootout event for around $ 115,000 in prize money. In January 2012, Yu won the Red Rock Poker Challenge Main Event in Las Vegas for a $ 75,000 prize money. At the end of June 2015, he won the Limit Hold'em Championship at the 2015 WSOP , securing almost $ 300,000 in prize money and his first bracelet . In mid-December 2015, Yu sat at the final table of the Main Event of the World Poker Tour at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and received more than 600,000 US dollars in prize money for his third place. In June 2017, he won the Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship of the World Series of Poker 2017 and received a prize of around 230,000 US dollars and his second bracelet . At the 2018 WSOP , Yu finished third in the Seven Card Stud Championship and a few days later took second place in the Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller for prize money of just under one million US dollars. He then won the $ 50,000 high roller event and received a prize of more than $ 1.65 million in addition to his third bracelet. At the Poker Masters 2018 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Yu reached the money twice in September 2018 and won prize money of almost 500,000 US dollars.

Overall, Yu has earned more than $ 7 million in poker in live tournaments.
