Benita Haastrup (* 1964 ) is a Danish jazz - drummer and percussionist.

Live and act

Haastrup graduated from the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in 1992 . For a long time she played in the orchestras of Finn Ziegler and Richard Boone . She worked u. a. with Maj-Britt Kramer , Elly Wright , Andy Sheppard , John Tchicai and Simon Spang-Hanssen as well as with Marius Neset , Fredrik Kronkvist and Magnus Hjorth . She performed with Muhal Richard Abrams , John Tchicai and Pierre Dørge at the Jazzpar Award ceremony .

Haastrup released the album Sunrise under his own name in 2009 . She belonged to the trio The Sophisticated Ladies (at times expanded to a sextet) , with whom she presented two albums and was also on tour in East Africa. In 2005 and 2006 she toured Germany and Austria with Marilyn Mazur's group Percussion Paradise , founded in 2000 .

In 1998 she received the Ben Webster Prize . Since 2004 she has been teaching at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen.
