Benno Hiddemann

Benno Hiddemann (born August 23, 1861 in Düsseldorf ; † December 25, 1907 there ) was a German physician and landscape and genre painter from the Düsseldorf School . He also designed bookplates .

Life

Hiddemann was a son of the Düsseldorf genre painter Friedrich Hiddemann . He wanted to become a painter, but at the request of his parents he studied medicine in Leipzig and Freiburg and obtained his doctorate. med. He then practiced in Säckingen and Bochum . He was married to Katharina Simon (1860–1934), a daughter of the Swiss architect Bernhard Simon . Around 1900 he returned to Düsseldorf, where he turned to painting under the guidance of his friend Willy Spatz . In 1902 he was represented at a public exhibition in Düsseldorf. In 1903 he visited Katwijk . In 1904/1905 he taught anatomy at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . He wrote a manual for anatomy for his students. As a member of the artists' association Malkasten , he composed templates for humorous and subtle performances on the stage there.
