use

Benzethonium chloride is used as a preservative in the cosmetics industry and in pharmaceuticals . Benzethonium chloride is not approved for use in the food industry in Germany . In clinical diagnostics, it is used as a reagent for the determination of protein in urine and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). As a cationic detergent, benzethonium chloride is also used in biochemistry as a protease inhibitor .
