format

The winner of the Serbian preliminary decision: Nevena Božović

concept

On the day of the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 , Duška Vučinić, Head of Press and Public Relations at RTS, announced that the Beovizija would take place again in 2019.

For the first time in the history of the festival, there will be two semi-finals in 2019, with 12 participants each. Only the best six in each semi-final qualify for the final. As in previous years, 50% of the vote will be determined by televoting and 50% by jury voting.

Choice of contribution

From August 8, 2018 to November 15, 2018, contributions could be submitted to RTS . The rules stipulate that all performers must be Serbian citizens. The text of the song must also be written in Serbian or another language officially in use in Serbia.

On November 23, 2018, RTS announced that the station had received a total of 76 songs. Then, with the help of a jury, RTS selected the best entries. Since this was an anonymized selection process, all contributions were provided with identification numbers. The names of the authors and performers were only assigned to the contributions after the participants in the festival had been selected. On January 8th, all 24 participants were selected and presented on January 10th. Among them are Nevena Božović , who already represented Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 , and Extra Nena , who represented Yugoslavia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 .

The songs of the participants were released on February 11, 2019.
