Berç Turan

Sahak Berç Turan (* 1920 in Kahramanmaraş ; † August 3, 1997 ) was a Turkish architect and politician of Armenian descent.

He graduated from the TUI School of Architecture, the Faculty of Architecture at the Istanbul Technical University ( İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakanschesi ). He became a civil engineering engineer at the Turkish Ministry of Public Works, a freelance architect, teacher of mathematics and cosmography at Pangaltı High School and a contracted designer. With the elections to the Senate in 1961 , Berç Turan became Senator for Istanbul in the Senate of the Republic from October 15, 1961 to July 7, 1964 , as a member of the Justice Party ( Adalet Partisi , AP). Berç Turan was married and had three children.

Berç Sahak Turan was the last Armenian-Christian representative in Turkey in the 1960s. There was no successor after that, despite the rapprochement efforts with the EU, until Markar Esayan ( AKP ), Garo Paylan ( HDP ) and Selina Doğan ( CHP ) entered parliament in June 2015 .
