Berard Toshio Oshikawa

Berard Toshio Oshikawa OFMConv ( Japanese ベ ラ ル ド 押 川 壽 夫 , Berarudo Oshikawa Toshio ; born March 25, 1941 in Naze (today: Amami ), Kagoshima Prefecture ) is a Japanese religious and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Naha .

Life

Berard Toshio Oshikawa joined the religious order of the Minorites and was ordained a priest on December 21, 1967 . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Naha on January 24, 1997 .

The old bishop of Naha, Peter Baptist Tadamarō Ishigami OFMCap , consecrated him on January 24, 1997 of the same year as bishop ; Co- consecrators were Stephen Fumio Hamao , Bishop of Yokohama , and Paul Shinichi Itonaga , Bishop of Kagoshima .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 9, 2017.
