The frosted barberry ( Berberis pruinosa ) is a species of the genus of the barberry ( Berberis ) in the family of the barberry family (Berberidaceae). The home of the frosted barberry is in the Chinese province of Yunnan .
description
The frosted barberry is an evergreen or wintergreen up to 3 meters high, loosely built shrub . The branches are round and yellowish, young shoots reddish, the thorns one to three parts and up to 4 centimeters long. The leaves are elliptical to ovate, up to 10 centimeters long, 2 centimeters wide, leathery, with indistinct veins, with 1 to 6 fine teeth on each side, dull gray-green on the top and white frosted on the underside. The flowers that appear in May are lemon yellow and 8 to 25 in clusters. The fruits are egg-shaped and blue-black in color and have thick white frosting.
