Beringen Badischer Bahnhof (official Beringen Bad Bf , also Beringen station ) is next to the S-Bahn - Beringerfeld stop one of two train stations in the Swiss municipality of Beringen in the canton of Schaffhausen . During the commissioning of the Schaffhausen S-Bahn on the Erzingen (Baden) - Schaffhausen section of the Upper Rhine , the Beringer station was extensively modernized.

Together with the other stations on Swiss territory owned by the Federal Republic of Germany , it is one of the last stations that are still directly owned by the federal government after the rail reform in Germany.

history

As late as 1856, Beringen (like Löhningen and Guntmadingen ) wanted to be spared from a railway . One to two hours away from a station can be expected of everyone, it said. In addition, due to the lack of demand in Beringen, the railway is certainly unprofitable and valuable land could be lost. "If we take a closer look at the local conditions, we come to the conclusion that a rail route through our territory is of (we would like to say unpredictable) disadvantage," said a petition.

Already in 1858, when the route through the canton of Schaffhausen was decided and announced with 101 gun salutes from the Enge into the Klettgau , there was jubilation in Beringen. In 1861 they wanted to have the route even north of the country road and a commission negotiated the necessary expropriations for the goods owners with the Grand Ducal Baden Railway .

On December 12, 1862, the first locomotive drove from Neuhausen to Waldshut. The official inauguration of the line took place on June 13, 1863. At that time one would have liked to have seen a branch line from Beringen to Stühlingen . Their role was later taken over by the Schaffhausen – Schleitheim tram , which became a strong competitor for the Baden Railway .

In 1901 the Schaffhausen tram was opened, which ran with a line to neighboring Neuhausen am Rheinfall . In 1905 this line was supplemented by an overland tram to Schleitheim , which also ran through Beringen. To distinguish the tram stop Beringen from the Badischer Bahnhof, this stop was named Beringen StSS . In 1964 the line to Schleitheim was closed.

On October 5, 2013, the expansion of the railway line between Erzingen and Schaffhausen was completed and put into operation. The line was expanded to two tracks between Erzingen and Beringen to a length of 12.5 km and electrified between Erzingen and Schaffhausen. At the same time, the new S-Bahn stop "Beringerfeld" was built in Beringen, which means that the Badische Bahnhof is no longer the only station in Beringen. Since then, the Schaffhausen S-Bahn has been running every half hour between Schaffhausen and Erzingen , and every quarter of an hour between Schaffhausen and Beringen Bad Bf during rush hour on working days.

When Switzerland joined the Schengen Agreement in 2008, the importance of the border between Switzerland and Germany decreased, but irregular checks continue to be carried out on trains between Erzingen and Schaffhausen.
