The Berlin ExpoCenter Airport ( BECA for short ) with an exhibition area of ​​250,000 m² is a trade fair site on the edge of Berlin Brandenburg Airport . It was initiated by Messe Berlin and what was then ZukunftsAgentur Brandenburg (ZAB), now Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB). The name corresponds to the new name for the exhibition grounds (Berlin) Berlin ExpoCenter City .

The building in the Selchow district of the Brandenburg municipality of Schönefeld is located directly next to the airport's southern runway. It is designed as a multifunctional trade fair and event site and, among other things, ensures the long-term implementation of the International Aerospace Exhibition Berlin (ILA) in the Berlin / Brandenburg area .

Messeimmobilien Selchow GmbH (MIS) was founded on November 10, 2010 for the construction and marketing of the site . Messe Berlin GmbH and ZukunftsAgentur Brandenburg (ZAB) are each 50 percent shareholders . According to its own information, MIS invested 27 million euros in the development of the new site. The area is directly connected to Berlin Brandenburg Airport via the Bravo taxiway .

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 18, 2011. Around 50,000 m² are planned for the halls and small buildings (for VIP support ) of the biennial ILA, the outdoor area for the presentation of aircraft of all sizes and categories comprises 100,000 m² and more 100,000 m² contain the spectator area and the route. This also includes a separate tower for the event management, numerous service and catering facilities, a press center and a conference center. After ten months of construction, the symbolic handover of the keys took place on July 3, 2012. 43 million euros were invested in the Berlin ExpoCenter Airport. Three permanent exhibition halls with an area of ​​more than 20,000 m² were created.

The economic gain for Berlin and Brandenburg from the ILA amounts to around 361 million euros according to its own estimates. The ExpoCenter once again strengthens the location and attractiveness of this exhibition and offers the opportunity for further events.

Location of the expo site and road connections

The Berlin ExpoCenter Airport can be reached by road via the federal highways B 96 and B 96a , which in turn have direct connections to downtown Berlin and the Berlin motorway ring.

A total of 14,000 exhibitor, visitor and press parking spaces were created within walking distance of the venue.

The exhibition grounds can currently only be reached by local public transport via bus shuttles, which are set up for events. There is a simple bus station in front of the eastern entrance. During the ILA, the Schönefeld Airport train station and the Schichauweg S-Bahn station will be connected. There are shuttle buses to the west entrance to the parking lots.
