The Schichauweg station is a station of the S-Bahn Berlin on the Berlin-Dresden Railway . It is located in Berlin's Tempelhof-Schöneberg district and was opened on December 1, 1990 to connect Lichtenrade -Nord.

It is the only new construction of an S-Bahn station by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe , which held the operating rights of the S-Bahn in West Berlin at the time of opening .

It consists of two side platforms , each of which has both northern and southern exits to the Schichauweg / Barnetstraße street. On November 25, 1991, additional north exits to Miethepfad and Kettinger Strasse were opened from both platforms.

history

The railway line was opened at ground level in 1875 through undeveloped area. A station guard's house was built southwest of today's train station.

In 1938 the line was raised to the level of the dam. At the same time, the ground-level outer freight ring crossing the line was built, the route of which ran north of today's train station. A connecting curve ran between south and east, and in 1944 a curve from south to west was built. With the new construction of the parallel Berlin outer ring in 1951, the outer goods ring lost its function and was only used for local goods traffic. It has now been shut down and has been dismantled in the area north of Schichauweg station.

In the mid-1980s, the single-track S-Bahn bridge from 1938 across the street was replaced by a new double-track bridge.
