Bernard Johnson

Bernard "bunchy" Johnson (* 1952 in New Orleans , † 21st March 2010 ) was an American jazz - drummer and actor who in the jazz and rhythm and blues was active scene of New Orleans.

Johnson graduated from St. Augustine High School and studied communications and theater studies at Xavier University. In New Orleans he worked a. a. with Aaron Neville , Allen Toussaint , Dave Bartholomew , Ellis Marsalis , Dr. John , Irma Thomas , Marva Wright , James Booker , Kermit Ruffins , Deacon John and George French . From 2005 he performed regularly with Jeremy Davenport's band at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel New Orleans. Johnson made appearances in the 2000s TV series Treme , in the Nicolas Cage film Pact of Vengeance , Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant - Cop Without a Conscience , in the short-lived TV series K-Ville as well as in Marc Forster's Monster’s Ball and in Lovesong for Bobby Long ; He also appeared in the off-Broadway musical Staggerlee in New York. In the field of jazz he was involved in 36 recording sessions between 1990 and 2008. Johnson died in March 2010 at the age of 57.
