biography
Neville was successful both as a solo artist and as a member of the band The Neville Brothers . Cajun elements also flow into the African American's music . His best-known song is Tell It Like It Is , which reached number 2 on the US charts in 1966.
Neville is known for his vibrato singing style, which is influenced by Gene Autry's yodelling.
In 1989 The Neville Brothers had the hit Yellow Moon from the album of the same name, which is sung by Aaron. In the same year he sang four duets with Linda Ronstadt for her successful album Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind . The duet Don't Know Much was released as a single , which became a hit and even received a Grammy in the category “Best Pop Duo”.
In the same year he even got another Grammy in the category "Best Pop Instrumental" for Healing Chant with The Neville Brothers, whose percussionist he was.
In 1994, he and Trisha Yearwood won a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration for their version of Patsy Cline's hit I Fall to Pieces . For two years, Rolling Stone named him the best male singer.
His album My True Story with twelve doo-wop classics was released on Blue Note in early 2013 .
His son Ivan Neville is also a well-known musician.
