Bernhard "Bernd" Bölscher (born February 12, 1947 ) is a German non-fiction author in the field of environmental and nature conservation and a military historian .

Life

After graduating from high school, Bölscher completed officer training in the armed forces and a degree in natural sciences. In Hanover , he worked for the Lower Saxony authority for nature conservation. After obtaining his doctorate in 1988 at the Technical University of Braunschweig , he worked for the Lower Saxony Association of the Federal Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND), also in Hanover, followed by research and teaching at the Zoological Institute of the Technical University of Braunschweig. Then he switched to school service and worked as a teacher at a comprehensive school . He has been retired since 2013.

Bölscher lives in Braunschweig and published two military-historical documentaries in retirement. As early as the creation of his compendium On the banks of the Oder , published in 2014 , he came across the naval officers' usage file with over 1,270 personal details, which also formed the core of his second military history publication, Hitler's Navy in Land Warfare , published in 2015 . Both books were reviewed by Eberhard Hemmen from the German Maritime Competence Network (DKMN) in the MarineForum magazine , the first in the 12/2014 issue, the second in the 6/2016 issue. Hitler's navy on land warfare was also reviewed by Dieter Hartwig in the military history magazine in November 2016. Hartwig particularly criticizes the lack of a coherent overall scientific presentation.
