Bernd Ulmann
Bernd Ulmann (born July 19, 1970 in Neu-Ulm ) is a German computer scientist , mathematician and university professor . He is a professor at the University of Economics & Management in Frankfurt am Main.
Live and act
After graduating from high school, Bernd Ulmann studied mathematics and philosophy at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 1989 to 1996 . He wrote his diploma thesis on cryptography and number theory. In 2009 he did his doctorate at the University of Hamburg under Gudrun Wolfschmidt ( fascination with analog computing - history and basics of electronic analog computers ). Since April 2010 Ulmann has been professor for business informatics at the University of Economics & Management in Frankfurt am Main.
In 1999 he founded the company Raven Information Technologies GmbH in Bad Schwalbach . In 2000 he opened a museum for mainframes - especially VAX and alpha processors - in Heidenrod-Kemel . In addition, Ulmann maintains a worldwide unique collection of analog computer systems in Bad Schwalbach . Ulmann is the founder and spokesman of Development- SIG and deputy spokesman for SIG research and teaching at Connect Germany.
His developments in hardware and software include the 16-bit QNICE processor and the programming language 5 ( Five ). One of his goals is the miniaturization of analog computers to chip size , which should be “faster than any digital computer” and consume “a hundredth of the energy”.
As a proven expert in mainframe systems, Ulmann was included in the Who's Who personal encyclopedia .
