Works (selection)

His works include three fantasies, an opera and several solo works for various instruments. In addition, he wrote many etudes for cello, many of which are still in use today.

He showed his fantasies for cello based on motifs from operas such as Der Freischütz and Euryanthe as well as on well-known pieces to Heinrich Kiefer , who made many small changes, e.g. B. made on Erlkönig .

Cossmann's cello concertos show the great knowledge of the cello and its potential. He admired the Italian composer Alfredo Piatti and dedicated his five major concert studies op.10 to him .
