Bernhard Eder (born March 1, 1984 in Saalfelden ) is a former Austrian biathlete and cross-country skier .
Bernhard Eder lives in St. Ulrich am Pillersee and trained in Neuwieben . He started for SC St. Ulrich am Pillersee , where he began biathlon in 2002. Eder competed in his first international race in January 2002 in the Cross-Country Continental Cup . In December of that year he contested his only race in the cross-country world cup in Linz , but failed as 66th in the qualification for the freestyle sprint. Further appearances in the Continental Cup and FIS races followed until 2004. Since the 2003/04 season , he has mainly participated in biathlon races, with his first international appearances in the Junior European Cup . The first international championship was the 2004 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Haute-Maurienne , where Eder was 54th in the sprint and 51st in the pursuit. A year later in Kontiolahti came 22nd in the sprint and 13th in the individual. In the pursuit race he missed a medal by just one place against Simon Fourcade , Emil Hegle Svendsen and Stian Nåvik in fourth place. Since the beginning of the 2005/06 season he started with the men in the performance area. In Obertilliach he was 34th of an individual in his first European Cup race. At the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf , Eder was used in singles, where he was 50th. In addition, he won the Austrian championships in the relay race with Ludwig Gredler and Hans Peter Foidl and became runner-up with the relay. In 2007 he won the title in the first and last competition in the short mass start race. On roller skis he was runner-up behind Friedrich Pinter in the individual . After the 2007/08 season , in which he achieved his best result in the European Cup as the 33rd sprint in Langdorf, he ended his active career and now works in an official role for the Austrian association.
