Hans-Peter Foidl (born April 2, 1978 in St. Johann in Tirol ) is a former Austrian biathlete .

Life

Hans-Peter Foidl lives in Boden and trains in Reith near Kitzbühel , where he competed for SC Kitzbühel . He was trained by Wolfgang Korosec. In 1997 he started biathlon and in 1999 he ran his first international race in Friedenweiler as part of the Biathlon European Cup . In his third race, a relay race, he came in second. The first major event was the 2001 European Biathlon Championships in Haute-Maurienne , where Foidl finished eleventh in the individual, 24th in the sprint and 17th in the pursuit. At the start of the 2001/02 season , the Austrian made his debut in Hochfilzen imBiathlon World Cup and was 53rd in a sprint. In 2002 in Kontiolahti , 2003 in Forni Avoltri , 2004 in Minsk , 2006 in Langdorf and 2008 in Nové Město na Moravě Foidl competed again at the European Championships. The best results were an 18th place in the individual and 14th place in the pursuit in 2003 and 13th place in 2006. With the relay he was sixth in 2002 and seventh in 2003. In the World Cup, a 50th place in the pursuit race from Pokljuka was the best result. With the relay he reached fifth places in Oberhof in 2005 and 2006 .

Foidl's actual field of activity, in which he celebrated his greatest successes, was the European Cup. In 2003 he won his first sprint race in Méribel . Various victories and podium placements followed. In 2002/03 he won the overall standings , in 2005/06 he was fourth. At the end of his career, he won the relay title at the Austrian championships in 2008.
