The König (Köninck) family originally came from Emden and moved to Cloppenburg around 1724 with the surgeon Bernardus Köninck (1704–1753) . König was the second son of the Löningen pharmacist Hermann König and his wife Sophie geb. Location. He attended high school in Meppen and then studied pharmacy at the University of Leipzig . He then worked for two years as an assistant in pharmacies in Berlin and in 1883 took over his father's pharmacy in Löningen. This activity gave the bachelor enough time for his involvement in local and state politics. He was one of the founding members of the savings and loan fund in Löningen and had been a member of the municipal council since 1887, and later also of the Cloppenburg office . In 1907 he sold the pharmacy in order to devote himself entirely to politics and took over the management of the local gas company. From 1911 to 1923 he was a member of the Oldenburg State Parliament and joined the center parliamentary group, which he temporarily took over as chairman. He was also a member of the Oldenburg State Court and the State Bank Directorate. As a member of parliament, he particularly campaigned for the regulation of the rabbit , for the establishment of the overland center and for the expansion of agricultural schools. He also played an active role in the Heimat movement and promoted the establishment of a Cloppenburg local history museum, to which he donated his extensive cultural and historical collection. In addition, he was a committed member of the Oldenburg State Association for Archeology and State History.
