Live and act

Bernhard Radhoff was rentmaster under the Prussians and headed the rent office of the Stoppenberg monastery from 1802 to 1807.

From September 1, 1808, under the French, he was director and Maire (French name for mayor) of the municipality of Altenessen with its seat in Stoppenberg, from which the mayorship of Altenessen emerged in 1813 and to which until 1874 Frillendorf , Huttrop , Karnap , Schonnebeck , Katernberg , Rotthausen , Rüttenscheid and Stoppenberg belonged.

In 1811 he was deposed from them during the French period because he made unpunctual payments of war contributions and tried to protect his population from their oppression.

In Essen-Altenessen-Süd the former Vereinsstraße was named after him in 1915 as Radhoffstraße.
