Bernhard Spiegel
Bernhard Spiegel (born December 10, 1826 in Hohenheida , † July 17, 1895 in Mittenwald ) was a German Lutheran theologian , superintendent and church historian .
Life
Spiegel attended the St. Thomas School in Leipzig from 1840 to 1847 . After graduating from high school, he studied theology with Georg Benedikt Winer , Johann Christian Friedrich Tuch , Christian Wilhelm Niedner and August Krehl (1784–1855) at the University of Leipzig . Then he worked as a teacher. In 1852 he became a preacher at the Peterskirche in Leipzig and in 1855 in St. Marien in Osnabrück. In 1876 he became city superintendent . He was also a pastor and worked as a church historian. In 1865 he was at the University of Jena to Dr. theol. PhD. In 1863 he founded the German Protestant Association and lectured on the Jesuits . He corresponded with David Friedrich Strauss and was close to the Tübingen school .
