Karl Gustav Wilhelm Baurschmidt (born April 1, 1806 in Hohne ; † December 21, 1864 in Lüchow ) was a German Protestant theologian and clergyman .

Life

Karl Gustav Wilhelm Baurschmidt attended a grammar school in Salzwedel , then went to Loccum Abbey for a year and studied Protestant theology at the University of Göttingen from 1825 . He then worked as a private tutor in Frankfurt am Main for three years . Now Baurschmidt helped his father Karl Christian Daniel Baurschmidt , who was appointed superintendent in Osterode . Towards the end of 1838, Karl Baurschmidt was also active as archdeacon in Lüchow. In 1862 he was celebrated as "Luther of the Wendland" because he successfully competed with the king and the consistory in the so-called catechism dispute. Baurschmidt died there on December 21, 1864. He found his final resting place in the old cemetery on Salzwedeler Straße in Lüchow.
