Johann Christian Friedrich cloth
Johann Christian Friedrich Tuch (born December 17, 1806 in Quedlinburg , † April 12, 1867 in Leipzig ) was a German orientalist , theologian and rector of the University of Leipzig .
Life
Tuch studied in Halle , where he became a private lecturer in philosophy in 1830 . In 1840 he was accepted into the Masonic lodge to the three swords in Halle. In 1841 he went to Leipzig as professor of theology, later canon and church councilor . As a representative of Leipzig University, he was a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament in 1850/51 . In 1860 he was accepted as a full member of the Royal Saxon Society of Sciences . He was an honorary doctor from the University of Tübingen and the University of Zurich .

His main work is the "Commentary on Genesis" (Halle 1838; 2nd edition by Arnold, the. 1871). Further works are treatises on Nineveh (Leipz. 1845), Christi Himmelfahrt (1857), Josephus (1859–1860), Antonius Martyr (1864) and u. a. on the phonology of Ethiopian.
