Bernhard Weber (game designer)

Bernhard Weber (* 3. March 1969 in Cologne ) is a German game designer whose board games , among other things by the company Ravensburger and the Federal Agency for Civic Education are sold. He is a member of the game authors' guild and lives in Bonn .

Life

Bernhard Weber grew up in the Rhineland as the youngest of four siblings. His father was a senior teacher at a vocational school , his mother a housewife. Up to the tenth grade he attended a secondary school in Cologne. In 1988 he passed the Abitur at Are Gymnasium Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler . In his school days he played theater . After completing his basic military service with a radio unit in the Eifel , Weber studied geography in Bonn without completing his studies. According to his own account, his studies inspired him to develop board games. In 2007 he and Jens-Peter Schliemann won the Essen pen for his game Burg Appenzell . In 2013 he took second place in Children's Game of the Year for his game Gold on the Orinoco . The game Glupschgeister , co-developed by Weber, was put on the recommendation list for Children's Game of the Year 2017.
