Bernhard de Rudder

Bernard de Rudder (born August 11, 1894 in Eschenbach in the Upper Palatinate , † March 27, 1962 in Munich ) was a German pediatrician and university professor .

Life

Bernhard de Rudder was the son of a district administrator. With an interruption due to his participation in the First World War - he studied medicine from 1914 and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . His practical training took place at the Hauner Children's Hospital under Meinhard von Pfaundler . From 1925 to 1931 he worked as a senior physician at the Würzburg University Children's Clinic, where he completed his habilitation in pediatrics in 1927 and was subsequently also a private lecturer . In 1931 he moved to the University Children's Clinic in Munich as senior physician for Pfaundler. In 1932 he accepted a call as a full professor of paediatrics at the University of Greifswald . From 1935 until his death in 1962 he then held the same chair at the University of Frankfurt am Main . He was the author of numerous specialist publications.

De Rudder, who was not a member of the NSDAP during the Nazi era , was dean of the medical faculty at the University of Frankfurt after the end of the war . He was a member of the university's denazification committee and issued Persilscheine for the racial hygienists Otmar von Verschuer and Hans Grebe .
