Bernhard von Grünberg (born July 5, 1945 in Halle / Saale ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia from 2000–2005 and 2010–2017 .

Life and work

Bernhard von Grünberg is the son of the political scientist and NPD founding board member Hans-Bernhard von Grünberg and his wife Hinata von Grünberg, born. from Massow . After graduating from high school in 1967, he studied business administration and law at the universities of Bochum, Geneva and Bonn from 1967 to 1972. He passed the second state examination in 1975. From 1975 to 1976 von Grünberg worked as a lawyer. From 1977 to 1983 he was managing director of the association of public companies for urban development and housing. From 1984 to 2010 he was chairman of the German Tenants' Association Bonn / Rhein-Sieg / Ahr e. V.

He has been a member of the SPD since 1970. Since 1971 he has held voluntary tenant and social counseling every Thursday. On June 23, 2009 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for this decade-long commitment and for his commitment to the poor, immigrants and the disabled .

In the 1994 federal election , von Grünberg ran as a direct candidate in the Bonn constituency , but only received 37.2 percent of the first votes and thus had to admit defeat to the CDU candidate Editha Limbach .

From June 2, 2000 to June 2, 2005 von Grünberg was a directly elected member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for constituency 33 Bonn II . During this legislative period, the Clement II cabinet and the Steinbrück cabinet ruled , both red-green coalitions. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 , he was re-elected to the state parliament ( Kraft I cabinet ). In the 2012 election he won the constituency well ahead of the CDU top candidate Norbert Röttgen . Until 2017 he was directly elected member of the Bonn I constituency . He no longer ran for the state election in 2017. He was the integration policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group as well as a member of the petitions committee, and previously also the study commission on housing change and new financial investors . He was a member of the Bonn City Council from 1975 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2010. On June 30, 2010, he was a member of the fourteenth Federal Assembly as a delegate of the state parliament .

Private

He is married to a Greek literary scholar. His apartment in Bonn houses a huge art collection.
