Bernstein is a district of the town of Windischeschenbach in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district in Bavaria .
The place is north of Windischeschenbach. The B 299 runs northwest and the A 93 runs to the east .
history
In the 13th century, Bernstein was the seat of the Pernsteiners , a branch of the Trautenberg family . From 1221 to 1383 she appeared as Ministeriale the Landgrave of Leuchtenberg . The location of their castle is no longer known. From 1384 to 1450 the Swer von Thumsenreuth sat in Bernstein. From 1590 to 1657 the lords of Rochau are named here as fief holders, they were replaced in 1716 by the lords of Lindenfels on Weidenberg . This was followed by Louis de St. Marie-Eglise from Krummennaab ; after his death his widow Maria Magdalena became the fiefdom holder. In 1785 Anna Maria Baroness von Öxle acquired the estate and in 1803 Johann Georg von Grafenstein , the district judge of Parkstein . In 1808 the manorial subjects were merged with those of the Waldsassen monastery and formed into the rural community of Bernstein.
Attractions
- The baroque Catholic branch church of St. Nikolaus is classified as a monument . It is essentially Romanesque and was built around 1200. The integrated west tower with onion dome dates from 1720. The hall church with pitched roof is closed on three sides. The building is registered under the number D-3-74-168-26 as a listed building in the list of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .
