Leslie Bertrand Lindsay (* 23. July 1881 in West Garafraxa , Ontario ; † 11. November 1960 in Sarnia , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career from 1903 to 1919, among other things for the Montreal Wanderers and Toronto Arenas in National Hockey League as well as the Victoria Aristocrats in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and Renfrew Creamery Kings in the National Hockey Association . His son Ted Lindsay , a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame , and cousin Bob Errey were also active in the NHL.
Career
Lindsay first played from 1903 to 1906 for the Redmen of McGill University in Montréal . He then worked as a goalkeeper for the Renfrew Rivers and Latchford Pros, among others, before joining the Renfrew Creamery Kings in 1907 . With the Creamery Kings he joined the newly formed National Hockey Association in 1909 and was the team's regular goalkeeper until 1911. In 1911 he was drawn to the Victoria Aristocrats in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association after he refused to play for the Toronto Tecumsehs from the NHA, who had selected him in the Dispersal Draft of the Creamery Kings.
It wasn't until November 1915 that he moved back to the NHA, where he joined the Montreal Wanderers , with whom he joined the newly created National Hockey League for the 1917/18 season . The Wanderers' time in the NHL was short-lived, however, as the team's home ground burned to the ground in December 1917. Lindsay therefore joined the reigning Stanley Cup winner Toronto Arenas for the 1918/19 season . At the end of the season he ended his career.
