Robert "Bob" Errey (born September 21, 1964 in Montreal , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 994 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins , Buffalo Sabers , San Jose Sharks , Detroit Red during his active career between 1980 and 1999 Wings , Dallas Stars and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League on the position of left winger . Errey celebrated his greatest career success with the two Stanley Cup wins in the service of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and 1992 and the Canadian national team by winning the gold medal at the 1997 World Cup .

Errey is a cousin of former goalkeeper Bert Lindsay and a third cousin of his son Ted Lindsay , a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame .

Career

Errey played as a junior player with the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League . After he in his third and last season scored with the Petes 100 points in 67 games, and also team was elected to the First All-Star who elected him Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft in the first round at position 15 made. In his very first season he played regularly in the NHL team and was only in the seasons 1984/85 and 1985/86 also at times AHL - Farm Team Baltimore Skipjacks used. From the 1986/87 season , the Canadian was part of the regular Penguins squad and was able to celebrate winning the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992 .

Due to his expiring contract, the Penguins transferred him to the Buffalo Sabers for Mike Ramsey in March 1993 , before he signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks as a free agent six months later . There he was elected team captain after Doug Wilson's resignation at the end of the preseason . The left wing filled this position until he moved to the Detroit Red Wings in February 1995. After almost two years with the Red Wings, they put him on the waiver list and so his ex-team from San Jose secured his services again until the end of the 1996/97 season . Following this, he took part with the Canadian national team at the World Cup in Finland and won the gold medal.

In July 1997, the free agent moved to the Dallas Stars , who made him for Mike Keane and Brian Skrudland in March 1998 with Todd Harvey to the New York Rangers . After they had used him throughout the 1998/99 season with their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack , he ended his active career on September 27, 1999 and announced that he was returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins to join the radio broadcast team to support. He had his best NHL season in the game year 1988/89 with 58 scorer points in 76 games.
