Career

Harvey first played four years from 1991 to 1995 in the Ontario Hockey League with the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors and Detroit Junior Red Wings . He also represented the Canadian junior national team in 1994 and 1995 at the Junior World Championships, where the team won gold medals in both events. During his time in the OHL, he was selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in ninth position by the Dallas Stars .

For the shortened lockout - 1994-95 season , the Stars Harvey then brought into the NHL, where he exposed himself right and the club until March 1998 remained faithful. In a transfer business, the Canadian joined the New York Rangers with Bob Errey , for which Mike Keane and Brian Skrudland received. These gave him in December 1999 for Radek Dvořák to the San Jose Sharks . At the Sharks, the right winger played a total of five seasons until the end of the 2003/04 season . In the summer he signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers as a free agent . Since the season failed completely because of a new lockout, Harvey spent the year with the Cambridge Hornets in the Major League Hockey of the Ontario Hockey Association , before returning to the 2005/06 season with the Oilers, with whom he surprisingly reached the final of the Stanley Cup reached. There they were subject to the Carolina Hurricanes . For the 2006/07 game year , Harvey found no new NHL team after Edmonton paid out the rest of his contract. He signed a contract with the Dundas Real McCoys in Major League Hockey in February 2007 and ended his career a little later.

After his retirement, Harvey paused a few years before he accepted an assistant coach position with the Guelph Storm from the Ontario Hockey League for the 2013/14 season . The engagement ended in the summer of 2017, after which the Canadian was signed as a scout by the Vancouver Canucks from the NHL.
