Bert Nederlof

Bert Nederlof (born August 26, 1946 in Crooswijk , Rotterdam ; † October 6, 2018 in Texel ) was a Dutch journalist and radio presenter.

Life

Born in Crooswijk, Rotterdam, Nederlof was introduced to football by his grandfather by taking him to games at the local club Excelsior Rotterdam . Nederlof remained a fan of this club all his life.

He started his career in journalism with the local newspaper De Rotterdammer , where he dealt with local amateur football. He later worked for Trouw and De Tijd .

In 1973 he joined the leading Dutch soccer magazine Voetbal International , where he worked for 35 years as an editor, editor-in-chief and senior editor. He worked for Voetbal International at the Football World Cup in Argentina in 1978 , where he happened to come into contact with the dictator Jorge Rafael Videla .

Nederlof retired in early 2008, after which he settled on Texel with his family. There he wrote various books about and with Willem van Hanegem , Ronald Koeman , Piet de Visser , Huub Stevens and Leo Beenhakker . His last book was published in early 2018, a biography of Keje Molenaar.

NOS

As a commentator, Nederlof reported on the winning tournament of the Dutch team at the European Football Championship in 1988 and commented on the NOS radio sports program Langs de Lijn between 1973 and 1995 . He commented on the infamous 1982/83 UEFA Cup match between Spartak Moscow and Dutch club HFC Haarlem , known as the Luzhniki disaster , as well as during the 1985 Heysel disaster .
