Bert Varell
Bert Varell ( bourgeois Walter Rauthmann ; born February 6, 1935 in Hamburg ; † June 27, 2006 ) was a German musician , actor , author and music producer .
Life
Walter Rauthmann learned various instruments (violin, trombone, double bass) as a primary school student. From 1945 he attended high school. After graduating from high school, he began training as an industrial clerk in 1952 . He then practiced this profession while simultaneously performing in various dance bands as a guitarist, double bass player and singer. In Hamburg he collaborated with Peter Beil , Billy Mo and Knut Kiesewetter . He attended the drama school in Hamburg and took lessons in classical singing and ballet at the same time.
Appearances and engagements
For his engagements in variety theaters and clubs as a Chanonsier, he adopted the stage name Bert Varell , which he kept from now on. From 1954 Varell sang in the Polydor studio choir and in various background groups. He appeared on radio and television with Paul Giese and Hans-Joachim Kipka as The Three Jerrys .
From 1959 Varell received a record deal from Teldec . At Teldec he later became production manager. As a production manager at Teldec, he engaged a. a. also Peter Maffay as an artist. In the 1960s Varell switched to the advertising industry and worked for Miller-Schallplatten-AG, which also produces the Europa radio plays. Konrad Halver also produced science fiction radio plays penned by Bert Varell under this label . Most recently, Varell was also the press spokesman for the Federal Association of Machine Entrepreneurs.
