Berthold Weese

Berthold Weese (born July 11, 1879 in Langenbielau , Reichenbach district ; † August 22, 1967 in Hof ) was a Prussian politician ( SPD ), member of the Bundestag and district administrator .

Life

Weese attended elementary school in Peterswaldau and learned the profession of typesetter . 1898 joined the union as a member. From 1903 to 1909 he worked as an SP district leader and from 1909 to 1912 was chairman of the SP in Breslau . In 1913 Weese was a co-founder and from 1915 to 1920 full-time managing director of the consumer association "Vorwärts" in Breslau. From 1918 to 1920 Weese was elected city councilor in Wroclaw and worked from November 1918 as a member of the people's council in the city. In 1919, Weese was elected to the board of directors of the trade union cartel in Breslau. From 1919 to 1920, Weese was a deputy member of thePrussian State Council . He also worked from 1919 to 1931 as a member of the Provincial Parliament and the Provincial Committee of Lower Silesia. From May 1920 to August 1932, Weese served as district administrator in the Strehlen district in Lower Silesia .

In 1933, the National Socialists imprisoned Weese for several months in the Breslau-Dürrgoy concentration camp , in the Esterwegen concentration camp and in the Lichtenburg concentration camp .

After the end of the war, Weese fled from Silesia to Mehlmeisel in the Kemnath district . He had lived in Hof an der Saale since 1947. From 1947 to 1948 Weese worked as a public plaintiff at the Spruchkammer I in Hof ad Saale. From 1948 to 1951 he was a representative of the Bavarian State and a member of the commission in the refugee camps Hof / Moschendorf, Gießen and Uelzen.
